Part IV

A reflection on moments and people who shape us.

For Part IV, JOSEPH & JAMES draws inspiration from a wedding portrait of the designer’s great-grandparents, taken in 1938. This photograph is the heart of the collection, shaping its narrative and design ethos.

From the elongated collar points on shirts to the wide-leg trousers finished with hem cuffs, every detail nods to the elegant styling of the 1930s. The original print designs in this collection take their cues from the portrait itself: the groom’s white gloves, the bride’s bouquet, and the quiet intimacy of the occasion. These elements come together in four separate prints, celebrating the timeless significance of the moments we capture and cherish.

The collection introduces an expanded knitwear range, with intricately designed cable-knit vests and cardigans, alongside Merino t-shirts, shirts, and crew neck pullovers. Fabrications, as always, are central to the JOSEPH & JAMES story. Expect textured shirting, lightweight linens with a luxurious hand feel, brushed cotton herringbone, and suiting fabrics that echo the sophistication of the 1930s. This season, the brand proudly delivers its first 100% natural fibre range, incorporating BCI-certified cottons, Masters of Linen-certified linen, custom-developed textiles, and deadstock fabrics.

Craftsmanship remains a cornerstone, with a balance of local and offshore production, and fabric sourcing that spans from Portugal to Korea, including Australian Merino Wool. This collection honours our commitment to quality and storytelling, weaving the narrative of a single photograph into a contemporary wardrobe that celebrates heritage and enduring style.
